The Cheapest Real Supercar in Miami
The McLaren MP4-12C Spider answers the question every Miami visitor eventually asks: what is the least money that still puts a genuine mid engine supercar, with a real badge and a folding roof, in my hands? At Premier Miami Rentals that number is $799 per day, and this is the car.
It is easy to scroll past on a fleet page because the model name does not sing like Huracan or Ferrari. Here is what you would be scrolling past: the car that relaunched McLaren's road car program after the F1, built around a carbon fiber MonoCell tub that weighs about as much as a single adult passenger, with dihedral doors that swing up and forward like nothing else on Ocean Drive, a 616 horsepower twin turbo V8, and a folding hardtop that turns the coupe into a convertible in about 17 seconds. It hits 60 mph in 3.1 seconds and runs on to 204 mph. It costs $500 less per day than the least expensive Huracan in the fleet.
If that math interests you, call or text 438-533-9053 or message us on WhatsApp and we will confirm availability for your dates before anything else happens.

- 14 days: $11,186 minus 15% is $9,508.10, or about $679 per day
Two weeks in a mid engine supercar convertible for under $700 a day is the best value in the fleet, and it is not particularly close. The full pricing picture across every vehicle is in our Miami exotic car rental prices guide, and how the discounts apply fleet wide is covered in the weekly discount guide.
What the MP4-12C Actually Is
Context, because it matters. Before the MP4-12C, McLaren road cars meant one thing: the F1, a car that cost a million dollars when a million dollars was real money. Then in 2011 McLaren built the 12C as its first series production road car, and the company engineered it like the racing operation it is.
The centerpiece is the carbon fiber MonoCell tub. Every rival at the time built its supercars around aluminum or steel, and McLaren showed up with a carbon passenger cell that weighs roughly 176 pounds and is stiffer than anything the Germans had. A decade later, carbon tubs are the industry standard for exotics. This car helped make them that.
Around the tub: a 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 making 616 horsepower, a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox, rear wheel drive, and a two piece folding hardtop. The 12C also carried two party tricks the press could not stop writing about. Brake Steer, which drags the inside rear wheel in corners to rotate the car the way a limited slip diff would. And Proactive Chassis Control, a hydraulic suspension system with no conventional anti roll bars at all, linked front to rear.
Then there are the doors. Dihedral doors that pivot up and forward, a signature McLaren kept on every supercar since. On Collins Avenue valet lines, they are worth the rental by themselves.
The honest spec sheet:
- Engine: 3.8L twin turbo V8
- Horsepower: 616 hp
- 0 to 60 mph: 3.1 seconds
- Top speed: 204 mph
- Drivetrain: rear wheel drive
- Transmission: 7 speed dual clutch
- Body: convertible, folding hardtop
For context on 3.1 seconds: that is level with the Huracan EVO Spyder, quicker than the Huracan Tecnica, and quicker to 60 than the Audi R8 Spyder. From a car that costs $500 less per day than the EVO Spyder.
The 2013 Question, Answered Honestly
The MP4-12C is the oldest exotic in the fleet and the honest answer is that you will notice. The cabin design belongs to the early 2010s, the infotainment is basic, and the switchgear is dated. Anyone pretending a 2013 interior matches a 2024 one is selling something.
But the parts that make a supercar a supercar are the parts that do not age. Carbon tubs do not fatigue like metal structures. The engine is the ancestor of the unit in our 600LT. And the driving position, the visibility, and the controls still feel like a proper race bred mid engine car, because that is what the chassis is.
The trade: about $700 per day in savings versus a Huracan EVO for an interior that shows its years and a mechanical package that does not. For a lot of renters, that is a very easy trade. It is the cheapest genuine supercar in Miami, which is exactly why it earns its spot in our cheapest exotic rental guide.
MP4-12C vs 600LT: Which McLaren to Rent
We carry two McLarens, and they are not variations on a theme. They are two different answers to the same question.
MP4-12C Spider, $799 per day. The value answer. Folding hardtop, 616 horsepower, and on paper it actually out horsepower numbers the newer car. It is comfortable in a way the 600LT is not, with the hydraulic suspension swallowing Brickell's broken pavement better than most exotics half its age. This is the McLaren for a first supercar rental, a budget weekend, or a Miami trip where the car is the supporting act and the city is the headliner.
600LT Spider, $1,499 per day. The driver's answer. Longtail spec means carbon ceramic brakes, a fixed wing making real downforce, a lighter body, and a sharper chassis. It is 2.8 seconds to 60 versus 3.1, and it feels like it everywhere above parking speeds. If the drive itself is the point of the trip, this is the one. The full breakdown is in our McLaren guide.
The short version: the MP4-12C is the McLaren you rent to experience a carbon tub supercar convertible without the supercar invoice. The 600LT is the McLaren you rent when you have done that already and want the sharp one.
How It Stacks Up Against the Other Budget Exotics
- vs Audi R8 Spyder ($899 per day, $799 weekly): The closest rival in the fleet and the choice most renters wrestle with. The R8 is newer, all wheel drive, and carries a naturally aspirated V10. The MP4-12C is cheaper, faster to 60, and more exotic to look at, doors included. The full comparison is in our Audi R8 price guide.
- vs Lamborghini Huracan EVO ($1,299 per day): The badge everyone asks for by name. If the name is the point, the Huracan is the point. If the drive is the point, the MP4-12C at $500 less per day is the sleeper pick. The Huracan breakdown is in our Lamborghini rental guide.
- vs Ferrari 458 Speciale ($1,599 per day): Twice the money for a naturally aspirated V8 and collector car rarity. Both are rear drive and demanding in a way the R8 is not. The Ferrari side of the story is in our 458 Speciale comparison.
The wider price landscape, from $799 to $1,599 per day, is mapped in our supercar cost guide.
Who Actually Rents the MP4-12C
First Time Supercar Renters
The most common booking. Rear wheel drive demands respect, but the dual clutch gearbox, the predictable hydraulic suspension, and the clean visibility make the 12C one of the least intimidating ways to cross into mid engine territory. If you have never rented an exotic before, this is a genuinely sensible place to start.
Budget Weekend Groups of Two
A Friday to Sunday booking in the MP4-12C runs about $2,397 before taxes and fees, laid out in our sports car weekend guide. For a couple, that is a carbon tub supercar convertible for the price many fleets charge for a German coupe.
Content Creators
The fastest growing comment under supercar content is "another Huracan." The MP4-12C is the antidote: dihedral doors opening against a Wynwood wall, a shape most of your audience has not scrolled past a hundred times, at $799 instead of $1,399. The full creator playbook, including the MP4-12C pick, is in our influencer rental guide.
Photoshoots
Hardtop stowed for open cockpit shots, roof up for silhouette shots: the folding hardtop makes the 12C two cars in one frame. It photographs beautifully, and at $799 it is the budget workhorse of our photoshoot rentals.
Where to Drive It
The Rickenbacker Causeway to Key Biscayne is the best driving road in Miami and the place where the hydraulic suspension and the twin turbo V8 make sense together. Wynwood is where the dihedral doors and the murals earn each other, covered in our Wynwood guide. Collins Avenue and South Beach are the classic cruise, and the open top version of the experience is ranked in our convertible comparison. Brickell at night, with the V8 echoing off the towers, closes the day properly.
Requirements and Booking
The MP4-12C runs on the standard checklist: a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, a major credit card in your own name, and age 25 or older. Verification typically takes under 30 minutes when your documents are ready. The complete list, including what international visitors need, is in our requirements guide.
Pickup is at our Miami location with the vehicle detailed, fueled, and inspected. Delivery to hotels, residences, and MIA is available by special arrangement, which the hotel delivery guide explains. It is an instant confirm vehicle, and same day bookings are often possible when you reach out early, which the same day guide covers.
- Text first, pay second. Call or text 438-533-9053 or message us on WhatsApp with your dates. We confirm availability before anything is charged.
- Budget the deposit headroom. The hold is $4,991, released after the return inspection. It is an authorization, not a charge.
- Consider the weekly math. Seven days drops the effective rate to about $719 per day automatically.
- Book early for peak season. December through April, and especially Art Basel and New Years Eve, the affordable exotics go first because everyone else did the same math you just did.
